VIC’S 3v3 TOURNAMENT RULES

Welcome to Vic’s 3v3. Our goal is to create a fun, competitive, and respectful environment for players.

 

All players, coaches, and spectators are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.

 

THE 10 RULES EVERYONE MUST KNOW

To keep Vic’s 3v3 safe and enjoyable for everyone, please follow these rules:

1. Respect the Referees
Referee decisions are final. Abuse toward referees will result in removal from the tournament.

2. No Fighting or Aggressive Behavior
Any player, coach, or spectator involved in fighting will be immediately removed from the event.

3. Parents Stay Off the Field
Spectators may not enter the field of play during games.

4. Teams Are Responsible for Their Spectators
If a parent or spectator behaves inappropriately, the entire team may be removed from the tournament.

5. No Refunds for Misconduct
Teams removed due to fighting, abuse, or unsportsmanlike behavior will not receive a refund.

6. No Slide Tackling
Slide tackling is not allowed. Sliding to block the ball without contact is permitted.

7. No Offsides
There are no offsides in Vic’s 3v3.

 

8. Give Space on Restarts
Defenders must give at least 5 yards on all restarts.

 

9. Kick-Ins Instead of Throw-Ins
All sideline restarts are kick-ins, not throw-ins.

 

10. Have Fun and Compete the Right Way
Vic’s 3v3 is about creativity, skill, and enjoying the game.

FULL TOURNAMENT RULES

Team Rosters

  • Maximum 5 players per team

  • 3 players on the field at one time

  • No goalkeepers

  • Players may only play on one team in the tournament

  • All players must be listed on the roster before the tournament begins

  • Rosters are final once a team’s first game begins

 

Teams using ineligible players or falsifying age or level may be removed from the tournament without refund.

There is no coach necessary for this tournament. A team may choose to have

anyone as a coach if they want. If a coach is present, they (coaches) may not cross beyond the

midline and shall remain in close proximity to the team's sideline area.

Substitutions

Substitutions may occur during any dead ball.

Players must:

  • Get the referee’s attention

  • Enter and exit at the midfield line

 

Equipment

  • Shin guards are mandatory

  • No jewelry or dangerous equipment

  • Teams must bring light and dark shirts

  • Pennies may be provided if needed

 

Ball sizes:

  • U8–U12: Size 4

  • U13 and older: Size 5

Field Dimensions (varies by location)

 

Fields are approximately:

  • 25–30 yards long

  • 15–20 yards wide

 

Goals:

  • 4 feet high x 6 feet wide

 

Goal Box Rule

The goal box is 8 feet wide and 6 feet deep.

 

Players may run through the box but may not touch the ball inside it.

If a defender touches the ball in the goal box → Goal awarded

If an attacker touches the ball in the goal box → Goal kick

If the ball stops inside the goal box → Goal kick

Game Length

Games consist of:

  • Two 10-minute halves

  • 2-minute halftime

A game may end early if:

  • A team reaches 12 goals

  • The mercy rule (8-goal lead) is reached

Scoring

Goals may be scored from anywhere in the offensive half.

The ball must last be touched in the offensive half for a goal to count.

Kickoff Rule

Kickoffs may go forward or backward.

A goal cannot be scored directly from kickoff.

The ball must be touched by a second player before a goal is allowed.

Restarts

  • Kick-ins replace throw-ins

  • All restarts are indirect kicks except:

    • Corner kicks

    • Penalty kicks

Defending players must give 5 yards on all restarts.

 

Goal Kicks

Goal kicks may be taken from anywhere along the end line.

 

Penalty Kicks

A penalty kick is awarded if a clear scoring opportunity is denied by a foul.

 

Penalty kicks:

  • Taken from midfield

  • All other players must remain behind the halfway line

  • The ball is not live after the shot

Offside & Slide Tackling

There are no offsides in Vic’s 3v3.

Slide tackling is not allowed.

Players may slide to block the ball as long as there is no contact with another player.

 

Standings (Pool Play)

  • Win = 3 points

  • Tie = 1 point

  • Loss = 0 points

 

Tiebreakers

If teams are tied in standings:

  1. Head-to-head result

  2. Goal differential

  3. Most goals scored

  4. Fewest goals allowed

  5. Coin toss or shootout

 

Playoff Overtime

Playoff games tied after regulation go to:

3-minute sudden death overtime

If still tied → Shootout

Shootout format:

  • 3 players from each team

  • Alternating kicks

  • Sudden death if still tied

 

Player Ejections

Referees may eject players for:

  • Fighting

  • Violent conduct

  • Referee abuse

  • Repeated unsportsmanlike behavior

 

Teams may continue with their remaining players.

 

Suspensions are determined by the Tournament Director.

 

Forfeits

A team not ready at game time may forfeit the match.

 

Forfeit score: 5–0

Teams forfeiting multiple games may be removed from the tournament.

 

Sportsmanship Policy

Players, coaches, and spectators must show respect to referees, opponents, and tournament staff.

 

The following behavior will not be tolerated:

  • Fighting or physical confrontation

  • Verbal abuse toward referees

  • Threatening players, coaches, or spectators

  • Spectators entering the field of play

  • Persistent unsportsmanlike behavior

 

Teams are responsible for the behavior of their spectators.

 

Any team involved in serious misconduct may be removed from the tournament without refund.

 

Final Authority

Situations not covered by these rules will be decided by the Tournament Director.

 

All decisions are final.

Agreement to Rules

By registering for Vic’s 3v3, teams acknowledge and agree to all tournament rules and sportsmanship policies.

 

Vic’s 3v3 reserves the right to remove any player, team, coach, or spectator whose behavior is detrimental to the tournament environment.

MECHANICAL AND ARTIFICIAL NOISE MAKERS ARE PROHIBITED.

SITUATIONS OR OCCURRENCES THAT THESE RULES OR STANDARD RULES OF

PLAY DO NOT ADDRESS SHALL BE LEFT TO THE SOLE DISCRETION OF

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR.
